Baseball returned to the University of British Columbia in 1997, after an absence of 30 years. During a short period of time, this program, lead by coach Terry McKaig, has produced impressive results by any standard. Six former UBC players are currently playing professional baseball, and Jeff Francis of the Colorado Rockies is the first Thunderbird in the major leagues.

The team operated as a club for the first two seasons, and was given varsity status in 2000. The Thunderbirds won their first NAIA Region I pennant in 2003, and won two more in 2005 and 2006. They made their first appearance at the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 2006, and finished fourth with a 2-2 record.

The Thunderbirds play their home games at Nat Bailey Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Park. This ballpark is notorious for being pitcher-friendly.

This site contains a forum for UBC baseball fans, pictures and biographies of current players and alumni, accounts of games, and commentary on baseball-related topics.
