Oklahoma City defeated Embry-Riddle 8-1 to win the 2005 NAIA national baseball championship, after being the runner-up the past three years.
Mike Mlotkowski got his second win of tournament for the Stars. He went eight innings, allowed only four hits. He also picked off two baserunners.
Basically, the Eagles ran out of pitchers. They started Patrick Ryan, who pitched seven innings on Tuesday, and 1 2/3 innings on Thursday. However, the Stars did the most damage to Chris Langlois, who pitched three innings on Wednesday, and gave up nine hits and three runs in 3 1/3 innings in this game.
The Eagles took an early lead with an RBI double by Derrick Pyles in the second inning. It was the last run they would get. Oklahoma City took the lead for good with a two-run home run by Colby Overstreet in the fourth inning. The Stars got two more runs in the sixth (one of them scored by Overstreet), then broke the game open with four runs in the seventh, on RBI by Overstreet, Derek Snell, Bobby Spain, and Ryan Walker.
Mlotkowski was chosen as the MVP for the tournament. Attendance: 2,915
