The Thunderbirds led 5-2 after five innings, the result of a two-RBI single by Scott Webster, RBI singles by Brett Murray and Mike Styrna, and a bunt single by Sammie Starr, as well as a good pitching performance by Kurtis Schumacher, who started, and allowed only two hits.
The Warriors took the lead in the sixth on RBI singles by Beau Mills, Paul Martin, and Jessie Mier, and a passed ball. (Mills had three hits on the evening, so his cold streak against the Thunderbirds is officially over.) They got four more in the seventh, and things really came off the wheels in the eighth.
Mier hit a home run for the Warriors in the early going. Mike Miller got the start for the Warriors, and Brian Schwarzenbach got the win.
Also pitching for the Thunderbirds were Andrew LaFleur, Webster, and Ben Hoekstra. Webster got hammered, and Hoekstra got really hammered, but he was hurt by a couple of errors.

Scott Webster got his first career home run in the seventh inning, and it was the only run of the game. The Thunderbirds are now 2-0 against the defending champions, and Chris Kissock got his first loss of the season.
Because of the series against Albertson this weekend, this game was pitched by committee, as was UBC's win in March. Mark Hardy did the first three innings, Greg Chong the fourth, Doug Grant the fifth and sixth, Brendan Rolfe the seventh and eighth, and Brett Murray the ninth.
Murray made one of the big plays of the game. Mark Thompson opened the inning with a hit, but Murray picked him off. He walked the next batter. Beau Mills finally managed a hit against the Thunderbirds, to put the winning run at first. However, the Thundebirds then got their second double play of the game to end it.
Fourth inning play at plate. Photo by Logan Fowler. The only other scoring chance of the game came in the fourth inning. Brendan Kornberger was hit by a pitch, and Zack Ross came in to courtesy-run for him. Webster drew a walk to move him to second. Nic Lendvoy got a hit, but Brent Wyatt threw a strike from center field to Warrior catcher Jessie Mier, and Ross was tagged out at home.
Kissock went eight innings, struck out at nine, and the only bad pitch he threw was the one that Webster hit out of the park.
Nic Lendvoy had a double and a single for the Thunderbirds. It only took a hour and 45 minutes to play this game. Both teams had five hits and no errors.
